Egypt Secures Seven Illegally Exported Antiquities from U.S.
According to an official communiqué, the ministry explained that the reclaimed items consist of an Ushabti figurine, an amulet of the deity Set, a carved scarab made of stone, two sculpted human heads, a preserved falcon head, and a preserved fish.
The statement noted that the restitution was achieved through collaboration between the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
This effort was conducted under the framework of a 2021 Memorandum of Understanding signed by both nations concerning the safeguarding of cultural heritage.
With this latest recovery, Egypt adds another accomplishment to its expanding list of restitutions, forming part of a broader initiative to reclaim looted patrimony worldwide.
In recent years, Egypt has successfully regained tens of thousands of stolen artifacts from various countries.
