Egypt, Oman Stress Coordination to Ease Regional Tensions
The discussions in Muscat represent the third stop in Abdelatty’s regional tour aimed at de-escalating the situation amid ongoing U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory actions.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s support for Oman in addressing what he described as “security challenges” and lauded Omani leadership for its mediation, commitment to stability, and restraint during the crisis. Al Busaidi, in turn, highlighted Egypt’s “pivotal role” in protecting Arab national security, according to the statement.
The ministers reviewed the fast-changing military developments and stressed the need for diplomatic measures to prevent the conflict from spreading. Abdelatty also called for initiating a serious Arab dialogue on post-war security arrangements in the region.
In a separate meeting with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, both sides emphasized coordinating regional and international actions to reduce tensions and strengthen security and stability, the Omani foreign ministry said.
Abdelatty’s visit to Oman follows prior stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, reflecting Egypt’s ongoing efforts to promote regional calm.
