Diplomatic Push Intensifies for US–Iran Talks
According to a ministry representative, diplomatic initiatives led by Pakistan, Türkiye, and Egypt are actively working to bring all involved parties—particularly Iran—to the table. Despite these efforts, Iran is still unwilling to proceed with dialogue without firm assurances. The official emphasized that these countries are attempting to persuade Tehran, which continues to show reluctance toward entering talks under the current conditions.
Senior Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, are reportedly maintaining “constant” communication with Iranian authorities in an effort to convince them to engage in negotiations. The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter, noted that these interactions are ongoing and focused on building trust.
The same official explained that Tehran is “still sticking to its demands,” insisting on guarantees that no future military actions will be launched against it. Additionally, Iran does not want its missile program included in the discussions and is seeking compensation for damages “inflicted” by both the United States and Israel.
Earlier, Sharif stated that Islamabad is “ready” to facilitate “meaningful and conclusive” negotiations between Washington and Tehran, aiming for a “comprehensive settlement” that would resolve the conflict in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, held talks with US President Donald Trump on Sunday regarding the situation. As part of its broader diplomatic outreach, Pakistan has also proposed hosting a high-level summit involving senior members of the Trump administration and Iranian officials to help advance peace efforts.
