Turkish Intelligence Chief Joins Gaza Ceasefire Talks in Cairo

(MENAFN) Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin has taken part in discussions in Cairo focused on advancing the next phase of a Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to officials and reports released Monday.

According to reports, Kalin attended meetings with representatives from Palestinian groups as well as officials from countries acting as guarantors of the ceasefire process. The talks also included senior delegations from Egypt and Qatar.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said participants worked on a draft roadmap aimed at overcoming obstacles and moving the ceasefire framework forward. The discussions were described as taking place in a “constructive atmosphere.”

Talks focused on completing remaining obligations under the initial phase of the agreement, increasing humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza, and maintaining stability on the ground.

Broader issues were also addressed, including future governance arrangements in Gaza, reconstruction efforts, the potential deployment of an international force, and mechanisms to ensure implementation of the ceasefire terms.

Security sources also said Kalin held separate meetings on the sidelines with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
